About C WEST

BIO:

C WEST (b. 1997) is a Buffalo-born, Atlanta-based singer-songwriter and abstract artist whose work is rooted in faith, healing, and transformation. Born and raised in Buffalo, NY, he now creates out of his studio in Atlanta, GA. A former art and vocal major at both the Buffalo Academy for Visual & Performing Arts and Villa Maria College, his creative journey began at the age of 12, sketching portraits of his favorite artist, Michael Jackson, while listening to his music. Though music was his first love, visual art quickly became another powerful language for expression.

Drawing from lived experience, C WEST uses color, movement, layered textures, and embedded words to tell deeply personal stories. Sometimes hidden within the layers, sometimes bold and unmistakable, these words add another emotional dimension to the work. Each painting is created to pull the viewer in, inviting moments of honest reflection, emotional connection, and deeper connection to God.

His passion for visual storytelling was recognized early. In 7th grade, he won the City of Buffalo’s Art Show for a hand-drawn portrait of President Barack Obama. In 2016, he signed his first major-label record deal and pursued music professionally. But in 2021, everything changed. After C WEST and his family became seriously ill from black mold exposure, he endured a severe battle with eczema that covered his entire body, making even basic daily tasks painful. In the midst of that physical and emotional struggle, painting became a lifeline and a place of focus, release, and ultimately healing.

Today, that same passion for healing lives at the center of his work. His paintings seek to create space for hope, restoration, and transformation through abstract visual storytelling. His work has been featured in the The Ritz-Carlton, Lawrenceville City Hall, exhibited in galleries throughout Atlanta, and collected in prominent private collections across metro Atlanta, Canada, and New York.

When he’s not creating, he spends his time with his wife Katie and their three children, Zion, Ezra, and Cataleya, making the most of every moment together.
